The Ladder Alliance

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

Fort Worth Republican Women’s charity of choice is the Ladder Alliance, a local organization whose mission is to provide women victims of domestic violence or low-income women with the tools to lead self-reliant, independent, and successful lives.

Women enrolled in the Ladder Alliance classes learn computer skills which enable them to qualify for skilled positions in the workforce.  Recently, the Ladder Alliance has adopted a GED preparation course as well.  Childcare and a light meal is provided for the students and their children to make it easier for the women to arrive to class on time. Courses are offered in multiple locations throughout the community to reduce transportation barriers.

Fort Worth Republican Women contribute in many ways.  We contribute financially by collecting donations at the same time we collect membership dues.  These voluntary donations are earmarked 100% to go directly to the Ladder Alliance.  In addition, we periodically donate items to the Success Store.

Success Store

Women entering, or re-entering,  into the workforce often don’t have the appropriate attire for interviews or every day office wear. The Ladder Alliance Success Store solves this  barrier to employment and provides an incentive for  keeping students engaged and motivated throughout the course. Students “pay” for items in the store using Success Dollars, “money” they earn through attendance, punctuality and volunteerism. Students get to treat themselves with money they won’t feel guilty about spending because no other store will accept the purple and pink Success Dollars.

Our clothing drives help keep the store stocked with the needed assortment of sizes and items. Items accepted include:  blouses and sweaters, pants and skirts, dresses, suits, jackets, coats, shoes, purses and jewelry.

Members of Fort Worth Republican Women also donate individually.  When you do, be sure to mention that you are a member of Fort Worth Republican Women!
